GARBALISER, a Baalbek-based AgriTech startup, has secured a significant $436,000 investment after successfully participating in the IM Fndng’s Seeders Accelerator program. Founded in 2020 by sisters Hanan and Zeinab Ismail, GARBALISER is transforming Lebanon’s persistent waste crisis into a sustainable solution by converting organic waste into high-quality liquid fertilizers using advanced fermentation technology. This funding milestone, acquired through Shark Tank Dubai in exchange for a 12% stake, is set to fuel the company’s regional expansion, starting with the UAE in 2024, followed by plans for growth into Jordan and the wider GCC market.
The IM Fndng Acceleration Catalyst
IM Fndng, which groups IM Capital and IM Ventures, provided crucial support to GARBALISER through its Seeders Accelerator. The program not only offered the structured framework needed for growth but also facilitated high-value connections within the regional investment ecosystem. IM Fndng connected the founders with top-tier MENA investors, including Noor Sweid (Global Ventures) and Youssef Hammad (BECO Capital), helping to validate their business model and prepare the company for regional scaling.
Converting Crisis into Commercial Success
GARBALISER emerged from a genuine need to address Lebanon’s escalating garbage crisis. The company’s core patented innovation allows them to transform biomass into eco-friendly, highly efficient liquid plant growth promoters. This solution directly addresses waste management challenges while offering farmers a local, affordable alternative to costly imported chemical fertilizers. Operating primarily out of Baalbek, GARBALISER has already established a strong local presence, serving over 400 clients in the region, demonstrating its commercial viability and positive environmental impact.
