The Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication has signed a strategic partnership with Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) and its investment arm, CDG Invest, to launch the “Gamification Lab.” The new program aims to develop and promote Moroccan talent within the rapidly growing electronic games industry.

A National Platform For Gamification

The initiative will establish a national platform dedicated to promoting and facilitating the acquisition of gamification solutions developed by Moroccan startups. These solutions are intended for public and private sector entities across vital fields such as education, health, culture, employment, and tourism.

The program aims to create skilled, sustainable job opportunities, strengthen the local startup ecosystem specializing in the electronic games industry, and promote the use of gamification technologies as effective tools for building a comprehensive digital economy.

Fostering A Growing Ecosystem

Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, stated that the agreement is part of a broader strategy to support small enterprises in the cultural industry, with a particular focus on video game development.
“There is a remarkable development in this area that will allow us to give small enterprises the opportunity to transform into large and medium-sized companies,” Bensaid said, highlighting that Morocco is now home to 40 startups in the sector, a significant increase from just two or three in 2021.

Nesrine Slaoui, Director of Gaming Industry and Information Systems Development at the Ministry, added that the partnership aims to provide targeted support for Moroccan startups, helping them develop gamification solutions for critical sectors.
“This agreement will enhance local production through the Gamification Lab, which serves as a laboratory for experimentation and the use of video game mechanics, allowing startups to market their products to public and private players in the Kingdom,” she explained.

The Lab’s Operational Framework

The program will be activated by first studying the specific needs of public and private sector players. This will be followed by signing agreements with beneficiary organizations and then launching calls for interest to select and mentor Moroccan startups. This framework is designed to ensure effective, sustainable support for national talent and boost the competitiveness of Morocco’s digital industry.
