Mansoura University Kicks Off 7th Entrepreneurship Week to Bolster Student Innovation

Mansoura University has inaugurated its seventh annual Entrepreneurship Week for the University Centers for Professional Development (UCPD). The event, held under the theme “Building an Entrepreneurial Generation: Empowering University Youth in Light of Egypt’s Vision 2030,” brings together university leadership, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and students to foster a culture of innovation on campus.

The launch was attended by Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, alongside vice presidents, faculty leaders, and representatives from corporate partners. Dr. Khater emphasized the university’s commitment to creating a stimulating environment that nurtures student talent and supports the growth of early-stage ventures.

A Vision Aligned with Egypt 2030

In his opening address, Dr. Sherif Khater highlighted the university’s strategic focus on enhancing student capabilities and connecting them with the job market. He praised the vital role of the UCPD in developing students’ entrepreneurial skills and bridging the gap between academia and industry, thanking all partners for their support and calling for an expansion of training programs.

Dr. Walid El-Shenawy, another key speaker, noted that entrepreneurship has become a fundamental driver of economic growth. He encouraged students to believe in their ideas and embrace innovation, urging them to transform challenges into opportunities with courage and persistence.

UCPD’s Impact and Achievements

The UCPD at Mansoura University has achieved significant milestones, reinforcing its position as a leader in professional development. Dr. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumy, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, announced that the university’s center ranks first among all Egyptian universities for its training and qualification programs.

Dr. Mona Abu El-Ezz, Director of the UCPD, presented the center’s accomplishments for the 2024-2025 period. These include placing 450 graduates in jobs through industry partnerships, conducting 25 specialized training programs, and launching an entrepreneurship awareness initiative that engaged 1,947 students across 13 workshops.

Celebrating Student-Led Innovation

A major highlight of the event was the recognition of winners from the second edition of the “Startup Missiles” competition, which saw participation from over 64 student teams. The competition showcased a range of innovative solutions developed by the university’s students.
The top honors were awarded to:

  • First Place: Aqua Guard
  • Second Place: Cuppy
  • Third Place: Zai Voice
    The opening session concluded with an awards ceremony honoring the university’s leadership for their support, as well as recognizing the event’s sponsors and the winning teams. The week’s activities will continue with interactive sessions, panel discussions, and individual presentations designed to inspire students to develop projects with significant economic and social impact.
