Snowflake has announced the general availability of its AI Data Cloud on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Middle East (UAE) Region, marking a significant expansion of its services into the region. This deployment provides local customers with a secure and high-performance environment designed to accelerate AI adoption while adhering to local data residency requirements.
Powering the UAE’s National AI Strategy
The launch directly supports the UAE’s National AI Strategy 2031, a comprehensive plan to establish the nation as a global leader in artificial intelligence. By offering a local, AI-ready data infrastructure, Snowflake’s expansion addresses the growing demand from UAE enterprises for governed data environments that can serve as the foundation for advanced AI and machine learning initiatives.
The local deployment on AWS infrastructure ensures reduced latency and improved performance for organizations across industries, from finance to retail, enabling them to build and scale data-intensive applications more effectively.
Strengthening the AWS Partnership
This move deepens the global collaboration between Snowflake and AWS. The partnership has already seen substantial growth, with Snowflake’s transaction volume on the AWS Marketplace more than doubling year-over-year to surpass US$2 billion globally. Through the marketplace, regional customers gain streamlined access to the AI Data Cloud and its seamless integrations with other AWS services.
“The combination of secure local infrastructure, strong governance controls, and AI-ready performance is essential as the UAE moves to turn its national AI goals into long-term value,” said Tareq Masoud, Country Manager, UAE, Snowflake.
“Our collaboration with AWS strengthens that foundation by giving local organisations a way to modernise data platforms, build trusted AI systems, and generate value from their data at scale.”
Enhanced Data Interoperability
To further simplify data management and governance, the platforms now feature greater interoperability. With Catalog Federation, customers can directly access Iceberg-format data managed by Snowflake through the AWS Glue Data Catalog. This integration eliminates data duplication and reduces associated storage costs.
Furthermore, new catalog-linked databases allow Snowflake users to connect databases directly to the AWS Glue Data Catalog, automating the discovery and synchronisation of data tables. This simplifies governance and ensures that data remains consistent and accessible across platforms, supporting enterprises as they scale their data initiatives securely and efficiently.
About Snowflake
Snowflake enables every organization to be data-driven. The Snowflake Data Cloud is the global network where thousands of organizations mobilize data with near-unlimited scale, concurrency, and performance. Inside the Data Cloud, organizations unite their siloed data, discover and securely share governed data, and execute diverse analytic workloads.
