Anthropic Boosts Claude With Integrated Workplace Tools Like Slack and Canva

4 Min Read

Anthropic, a leading AI safety and research company, has announced a significant upgrade to its Claude chatbot, allowing users to interact with third-party applications directly within the chat interface. This move aims to transform Claude into a central work hub, streamlining workflows for professionals and enterprise teams.

The new feature integrates a suite of popular workplace tools, including Slack, Canva, Figma, Asana, Box, and Clay, with a Salesforce integration slated to launch soon. Users on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans can now activate these tools to perform tasks like sending Slack messages, generating diagrams in Figma, or analyzing data from cloud files without switching between applications.

A New Era of In-Chat Productivity

By embedding interactive tools directly into the conversation, Anthropic is enabling a more collaborative and efficient user experience. According to the company, this combination allows users to work and iterate faster than using either the AI or the standalone applications alone.

The integrations are designed to be highly functional. For example, users can now build and explore analytics charts with Amplitude, turn conversations into project timelines in Asana, create presentation outlines with Canva, or search for and extract insights from documents stored in Box—all commanded through natural language prompts to Claude.

This functionality will be particularly powerful when integrated with Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s recently launched agentic tool designed for complex, multistage tasks. While not available at launch, the company confirmed that app integration for Cowork is “coming soon.”

Built on an Open Standard

The underlying architecture for these integrations is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2024 to connect AI applications with external tools. The new feature is an extension of this protocol called MCP Apps, which allows any developer to deliver an interactive interface within any supporting AI product, not just Claude.

This commitment to an open ecosystem standard differentiates the approach from more closed systems and encourages broader developer adoption, potentially leading to a wider array of integrated tools in the future.

The MENA Perspective

For the burgeoning tech ecosystem across the MENA region, this development presents a significant opportunity to enhance productivity and innovation. Startups in hubs like Dubai, Riyadh, and Cairo can leverage these integrated tools to streamline operations, allowing smaller teams to manage complex projects more efficiently.

Founders and VCs can utilize tools like Clay for market research and outreach, while marketing teams can accelerate content creation with Canva and Figma integration. As the region continues to champion digital transformation and AI adoption, tools that centralize workflows and reduce friction are invaluable for maintaining a competitive edge in a fast-paced global market.
