Competition Overview
The WIPO Global Awards celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises and startups that effectively use intellectual property—such as patents, trademarks, and copyrights—to grow their businesses and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. For 2026, the program has expanded to include 11 award categories, including a new “Sports” category and special mentions for Women and Youth entrepreneurs. The goal is to identify businesses that have successfully transformed creative ideas into viable commercial products or services that benefit society, the economy, or the environment.

Eligibility Criteria
- Registration: Must be a legally registered business in one of the 194 WIPO Member States.
- Company Size: Open to startups and SMEs with a maximum of 300 employees and up to $15 million in annual revenue.
- IP Connection: Must offer an innovative product or service linked to IP.
- IP Rights: Startups must hold at least one pending IP right; SMEs must hold at least one registered IP right.
- Market Presence: Startups should show early-market activity, while SMEs should demonstrate commercial traction.
