Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park Processes Over 7,500 Licensing Transactions in Early 2026

4 Min Read

The United Arab Emirates continues to attract global innovators, with the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) reporting a massive surge in enterprise activity. During the first two months of 2026 alone, the innovation hub recorded more than 7,500 licensing transactions, encompassing new company formations and renewals.

Quick Facts

  • Processed 7,500 licensing transactions in January and February 2026.

  • Enabled 130 early-stage ventures during Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival.

  • Expanding operations into key international tech markets including China.

Scaling Advanced Infrastructure for Tech Ventures

The early 2026 volume highlights a sustained demand from research-based companies looking to leverage Sharjah’s business environment. To capture this momentum, SPARK has introduced new all-inclusive licensing packages specifically designed to help entrepreneurs and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) establish and scale their operations.

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, emphasized that these transaction indicators reflect the underlying strength of Sharjah’s innovation ecosystem. The hub is focusing heavily on translating this influx of enterprise activity into tangible economic value that supports regional development.

“At SPARK, we are committed to building an integrated ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs and innovators by providing advanced infrastructure, prototyping capabilities, and growth opportunities,” Al Mahmoudi said.

Strategic Expansion Across Asia and Global Markets

SPARK is actively deploying a global expansion strategy to attract high-potential technology companies to the broader Middle East. The organization is currently collaborating with representative offices in major international markets, with a particular focus on China and India.

This international push builds on strong foundational growth from 2025, during which SPARK secured partnerships with more than 30 local and global entities. Key alliances include the European Union ecosystem, the International Association of Science Parks, and Emirates Health Services.

To support distinct industry verticals, SPARK recently launched BASE39, a specialized zone designed to support emerging creative talent and scale design-driven ventures.

Attracting High-Priority Sector Startups

Alongside its broad enterprise licensing, SPARK continues to aggressively target early-stage companies. In collaboration with the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa), SPARK launched a dedicated startup package during the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival 2026 (SEF-26), resulting in the successful establishment of 130 new ventures.

The park is also prioritizing specific deep-tech and sustainability verticals. Recently, SPARK onboarded more than 15 technology startups focused on forward-looking sectors, including robotics-enabled services, waste-to-energy technologies, and advanced architectural projects.

Moving deeper into 2026, SPARK aims to strengthen its position as an integrated R&D hub by accelerating technology commercialization and partnering with government entities to address national technological challenges.
