Quick Facts
- SVC invests in the “Growth Catalyst Fund.”
- Fund targets a size between $150M and $200M.
- Focus is on established mid-market companies in Saudi Arabia.
A Shift Beyond Early-Stage Bets
Managed by Growth Catalyst Investment Company, the new fund is designed to support companies that have successfully navigated the startup phase and now require strategic capital and expertise to scale. Unlike venture funds chasing new ideas, the Growth Catalyst Fund will back businesses with proven models that need a partner to optimize operations and accelerate expansion.
This strategic pivot reflects a broader change in investment priorities within the Kingdom, aiming to build sustainable, long-term value in national champions.
Hands-On Value Creation
The fund is introducing an integrated model that pairs capital with deep operational support. Instead of simply injecting cash, the focus is on improving operational efficiency, strengthening market competitiveness, and building more resilient organizational structures. This hands-on approach is critical for companies transitioning from a startup mentality to an institutional framework.
Targeting Key Economic Sectors
The fund will concentrate on key sectors integral to Saudi Arabia’s long-term economic growth. These include healthcare, education, consumer sectors, defense industries, renewable energy, and food and beverage. This strategy deliberately targets industries capable of delivering tangible market impact, supporting the development of companies that form the backbone of the economy.
Nora Alsarhan, Deputy CEO and Chief Investment Officer at SVC, stated that the investment aligns with the company’s mission to deepen the private equity market in the Kingdom.
“The growth stage is witnessing increasing demand from scalable companies,” Alsarhan explained. “Empowering fund managers to target this segment contributes to accelerating the growth of national companies and enhancing their competitiveness at both regional and global levels, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.”
Turki Al-Dayel, Founder and CEO of Growth Catalyst Investment Company, highlighted the crucial role of mid-sized companies in the Saudi economy.
“The fund was specifically designed to support these companies through long-term capital and an active investment approach focused on value creation within promising sectors, enabling businesses to achieve sustainable growth,” Al-Dayel noted.
