Attijariwafa Bank Egypt recently concluded its first quarter of 2024 by hosting a two-day “Spring Bazaar” at its headquarters, a strategic move under the “Tamkeen Khatwa” (Empowerment is a Step) initiative. The event provided a platform for women entrepreneurs and artisans to display their products, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to fostering economic inclusion and supporting local talent.
Quick Facts
- Event: Two-day “Spring Bazaar” at the bank’s headquarters.
- Focus: Empowering women entrepreneurs and local artisans.

Showcasing Social Impact and Resilience
A key feature of the bazaar was a special exhibition for “Salha,” a product line of handmade goods created by burn survivors. A portion of the sales proceeds directly funds other empowerment projects within the Ahl Masr Center for Integration and Empowerment, creating a sustainable cycle of support for the community.
Fostering Entrepreneurship with ‘Rabha’
The bank also hosted a showcase for graduates of the “Rabha” women’s entrepreneurship training program. This program is a collaborative effort implemented by the American University in Cairo’s (AUC) Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Ansi Sawiris School of Business.
The “Rabha” initiative is part of a joint program between UN Women and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) titled “Women’s Economic Empowerment for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in Egypt.” The project is executed in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry, with support from Global Affairs Canada.
A Commitment to Economic Inclusion
Attijariwafa Bank Egypt stated that these events are an extension of its ongoing efforts to support handicrafts and empower entrepreneurs, particularly women. By championing these ventures, the bank aims to enhance economic inclusion and contribute to Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
