The findings come from the latest AI Diffusion Report published by Microsoft’s AI Economy Institute, highlighting the nation’s rapid integration of AI into its economic and social fabric.
Quick Facts

A Strategic Push for Digital Dominance
The report details the UAE’s steady climb in AI integration, with adoption rates increasing from 59.4% to 64%, and finally to the current 70.1%. This makes the UAE the first economy in the world to cross the 70% mark, a significant milestone when many parts of the world remain below 10%.
The country’s achievement underscores a sustained national focus on developing digital capabilities and strengthening its innovation ecosystem. According to the report, the use of AI has become increasingly embedded in work and learning methods across the UAE, supported by a strong foundation designed for resilience and responsible growth.
Microsoft Commends UAE’s Long-Term Vision
Amr Kamel, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, commented on the findings, stating it was encouraging to see the country at the forefront of AI adoption. He attributed the top ranking to years of focused effort by the government, businesses, and individuals in building the right foundations for a digital-first economy.
The Global AI Gap Widens
On a global scale, the Microsoft AI Adoption Index pointed to a growing disparity between the Global North and the Global South. AI adoption in higher-income regions is growing at more than double the pace seen elsewhere.
The report also identified persistent challenges that hinder equitable AI adoption worldwide, including issues with digital connectivity, infrastructure, and a lack of AI capabilities in local languages. It concluded that thoughtful and long-term investment remains the most effective strategy to bridge this gap.
