Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced a new $30 million Tech Venture Fund designed to back early-stage, Qatar-headquartered deep tech companies. The fund will focus on startups delivering measurable social or climate impact, aligning with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy (NDS3).

Quick Facts

  • Fund Size: $30 Million
  • Focus: Qatar-based deep tech startups
  • Key Partners: Global Ventures, VentureSouq, White Star Capital

A Bet on Deep Tech and Impact

The fund’s investment thesis targets the intersection of deep technology and tangible impact, aiming to support founders building companies that can generate lasting value for Qatar’s innovation ecosystem. It requires portfolio companies to be headquartered in Qatar, with their core leadership and operations based in the country.

Rama Chakaki, President of QSTP, explained the fund’s vision. “The Tech Venture Fund is built on a simple conviction: important companies of the next decade will be deep tech startups with an impact lens, focused on building inclusive, sustainable technologies that serve humanity and the natural world. We’re here to back those founders early and bring the best investors in the world alongside us when we do.”

The fund is targeting founders working at the frontier of AI, machine learning, robotics, biotechnology, and clean technology. Key sectors of interest include EdTech, HealthTech, CleanTech, AgriTech, PropTech, smart infrastructure, and mobility, using Qatar as a launchpad for regional and international growth.

Building a Global Co-Investment Bridge

A core component of the fund’s strategy is its co-investment model. QSTP will invest alongside leading local, regional, and global venture capital firms, giving Qatar-based startups access to larger capital pools, international networks, and specialized expertise.

The first cohort of co-investment partners includes Global Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, White Star Capital, VentureSouq, and Builders VC. These firms collectively offer deep sector knowledge and networks that span the WANA region, Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe.

VentureSouq will focus on high-growth FinTech and Climate founders in the WANA region, while Builders VC will invest from Qatar in companies modernizing essential industries with new technology. QSTP has indicated that more co-investment partners will be announced in the coming weeks.
