Lebanon’s Startup Ecosystem Strengthens As Nine Ventures Secure EU-Funded Growth Grants

4 Min Read

Lebanon’s entrepreneurial landscape is showing remarkable resilience as nine local startups have been awarded strategic grants through the “From Innovation to Creation” programme. Funded by the European Union and implemented by SPARK, the initiative provided regional grants ranging from €15,000 to €21,000. These funds are specifically designed to help Lebanese startups transition from a state of recovery to active regional expansion, allowing them to solidify their operational foundations despite the country’s ongoing economic challenges.

Scaling Operations and Digital Infrastructure

The “From Innovation to Creation” programme focused on equipping startups with the necessary tools to become market-ready and scalable. Recipients utilized the capital to upgrade core systems, improve platform performance, and enhance user experience. Beyond technical debt, the grants supported vital “back-office” growth, including legal compliance, operational stability, and team consolidation. This holistic support ensures that these ventures are not just surviving locally but are prepared for the competitive demands of the broader MENA market.

Strategic Market Expansion in Challenging Times

A core objective of the grant was to enable startups to pivot and maintain impact even when local ground operations faced pauses. By investing in targeted digital strategies and business development, several winners have been able to expand their outreach to new international clients. From robotics and sustainable agriculture to inclusive social enterprises, the diverse nature of the winners reflects the multi-faceted potential of Lebanon’s talent pool to drive innovation in high-growth sectors.
