Technopark Maroc (MITC), in collaboration with GIZ Maroc, has successfully concluded a series of strategic sessions in Casablanca following the debut of the eGov Hackathon in Rabat. This initiative is designed to catalyze public sector innovation and strengthen the Moroccan GovTech ecosystem by bringing together entrepreneurs, startups, and public administration officials to co-create digital solutions for the Kingdom’s modern challenges.
Bridging the Gap Between Startups and Public Markets
The Casablanca sessions focused on demystifying the complexities of public procurement for local innovators. By providing a platform for dialogue, Technopark and GIZ Maroc enabled startups to better understand the regulatory and operational hurdles of working with government entities. The goal is to unlock new opportunities for collaboration, allowing agile tech firms to apply their specialized expertise to the digital transformation of Morocco’s public services.
Accelerating the GovTech Radar and Digital Transformation
These encounters underscored the readiness of the Moroccan startup scene to engage in high-impact GovTech projects. The program also promoted the “GovTech Radar,” an initiative aimed at identifying and supporting the most promising public-sector solutions. Participants were encouraged to apply for upcoming specialized GovTech training sessions and a dedicated two-day bootcamp, ensuring a continuous pipeline of innovation that aligns with the nation’s broader digitalization strategies.
Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem in Casablanca
The high quality of discussions and the active participation of local founders have confirmed Casablanca’s position as a central hub for technological advancement in North Africa. The synergy between MITC’s infrastructure and GIZ’s global expertise provides a unique environment for project leaders to refine their value propositions for the public sector. Moving forward, the partnership plans to scale these hackathons to other regions, fostering a nationwide culture of open innovation within the administration.
