At the second edition of the Economic Forum of Moroccans of the World in Marrakech, Technopark Maroc (MITC) underscored the vital role of the Moroccan diaspora in driving the Kingdom’s digital economy. The organization emphasized that the global Moroccan community is no longer just a source of capital but has become a strategic lever for transformation, bringing high-level expertise, international networks, and direct access to global markets for local startups.
Transforming Investment into Global Co-Construction
Technopark is actively shifting its engagement strategy from seeking one-off investments to a model of “co-construction” with the diaspora. This approach aims to integrate the specialized skills of Moroccans living abroad into the national innovation framework. By serving as a structured entry point, Technopark connects these global talents with local founders, facilitating knowledge transfer that is essential for scaling Moroccan technology in highly competitive international environments.
Accelerating the Export Potential of Moroccan Startups
With more than 500 startups currently under its support umbrella, Technopark reported that approximately 35% of these ventures are already export-oriented. The organization aims to increase this figure by leveraging the diaspora to act as brand ambassadors and market entry specialists. Through dedicated internationalization programs and strategic partnerships, Technopark is creating pathways for Moroccan startups to transcend local borders and establish a presence in global tech hubs, aligned with the Morocco Digital 2030 vision.
Strengthening Synergies for National Impact
The forum, organized by Amine Saad and Amale Daoud, served as a platform to strengthen the technical and financial synergies between the diaspora and the national entrepreneurial ecosystem. Participants, including key leaders such as Ali Seddiki and Lamiae Benmakhlouf, discussed the necessity of building long-term bridges that allow for sustainable innovation. This collaborative effort is designed to ensure that the “Marocains du Monde” (MDM) are deeply embedded in the development phase of new technologies, ensuring local solutions meet international standards from inception.
