An Ecosystem to Address National Challenges
The launch of Agritech Jordan is a direct response to pressing global and local shifts impacting Jordan’s agricultural sector, including severe water scarcity, climate change, and rising production costs. The incubator aims to provide innovative solutions by supporting knowledge- and tech-based startups, helping transform creative ideas into productive businesses that generate jobs and stimulate economic growth.
The incubator will offer an integrated professional environment, including incubation and acceleration programs, technical and administrative mentorship, and support for developing business models and investment plans. It will also connect startups with investors, financing bodies, and new markets while promoting digital transformation.
A Strategic Push for Modern Agriculture
Ali Abu Nuqta, Head of the Agricultural Engineers Association, described the launch as a “pivotal moment” for developing the country’s agricultural sector. He emphasized that agricultural entrepreneurship is a strategic choice and a real economic driver, not just a series of limited-impact initiatives.
“The future of Jordanian agriculture is linked to its ability to absorb modern technology and employ innovation in all production chains,” said Abu Nuqta. He noted that Agritech Jordan will enable agricultural engineers and youth to enter the world of modern agribusiness and will back high-value projects in smart agriculture, food processing, the green economy, and food security.
Investing in Knowledge and Innovation
Dr. Imad Ayasra, Head of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Innovation Association, stated that the incubator represents a significant step forward for agricultural entrepreneurship in Jordan. He stressed that investing in human capital, knowledge, and innovation is the foundation for building the future of agricultural development.
According to Ayasra, Agritech Jordan will run specialized programs in precision agriculture, digital marketing, food security solutions, and artificial intelligence applications, with a particular focus on empowering rural women and youth in various governorates. “Jordan possesses great youth energies and promising creative ideas that can bring about a qualitative transformation in the agricultural sector if the right environment, institutional support, funding, and professional guidance are provided,” he added.
