A Gateway for Egyptian Startups
The agreement aims to create new pathways for Egyptian startups and high-growth companies looking to expand. It will facilitate the exchange of startups between the two countries and provide dedicated programs to assist companies with market entry strategies.
Key components of the collaboration include providing regulatory and legislative support, connecting startups with investors and strategic partners, and organizing investment forums. The deal will also see the launch of joint technology acceleration, R&D, and technology transfer initiatives.
The protocol was signed at the Academy’s headquarters in Cairo by Dr. Mamdouh Moawad, Acting President of ASRT, and Zhang Dianhui, Vice Dean of the Tan Kah Kee High Technology Research Institute.
Strengthening Egypt-China Tech Ties
This collaboration leverages the growing relationship between Egypt and China, particularly following Egypt’s recent inclusion in the BRICS bloc. It also aligns with ASRT’s strategy to engage with major international programs like China’s Belt and Road Initiative for Science and Technology, aiming to enhance Egypt’s national innovation system.
Dr. Mamdouh Moawad emphasized that the partnership is a significant step toward integrating Egypt’s innovation ecosystem with global networks.
“This cooperation represents a new step towards linking the Egyptian innovation system with international networks that support entrepreneurship and technology, opening broader horizons for Egyptian startups to access global markets,” Moawad stated. He added that the initiative aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and strengthens its position as a regional hub for innovation.
The partnership builds on a history of successful scientific collaboration, including the establishment of the joint Egyptian-Chinese Renewable Energy Laboratory, which has played a role in technology transfer and developing national capabilities in solar and clean energy.
