Dubai Centre for AI Launches Award to Sharpen Media Coverage of its AI Economy

The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI), an initiative under the Dubai Future Foundation, has launched a new event and award designed to enhance the media’s understanding and coverage of artificial intelligence’s economic impact. The ‘AI Economy for Media Professionals 2026’ event, held in partnership with the Dubai Media Academy, brought together journalists, decision-makers, and AI specialists to address the technology’s influence on the media landscape.

Bridging the Gap Between AI and Media

The event served as a forum to discuss the future of content creation as AI technologies continue to develop rapidly. It focused on the economic and strategic shifts driven by AI and how these changes affect media organizations, traditional job roles, and the skills needed for the future. Sessions showcased DCAI’s economic initiatives, including its AI Government Use Cases Bank, the AI Baseline economic study, and a new study on AI’s impact on Dubai’s workforce.

Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, stated, “This event reflects the Centre’s commitment to supporting media professionals and empowering them to cover the specialised topic of AI economy, and develop content that informs the public. DCAI is also keen on equipping them with knowledge of the AI tools in the media profession, to enhance a new level of content creation in the media.”

He added: “Our mission at DCAI is to ensure that AI, and every technological breakthrough, is used with the people of Dubai as its final beneficiary, improving the quality of their lives and enhancing government services for them. Media has a key role to augment and extend our mission.”

Incentivizing World-Class AI Journalism

A key announcement from the event was the launch of the ‘AI Economy Media Award’. The award aims to recognize and encourage high-quality media content focused on the AI economy in Dubai. The initiative seeks to foster specialized content that raises public awareness of AI-related economic topics and highlights Dubai’s efforts in the sector.

A Strategic Collaboration for Future Skills

The partnership with Dubai Media Academy, part of Dubai Media Incorporated, was highlighted as a critical component of the initiative. The collaboration is intended to support the media industry’s future by equipping local talent with the knowledge to navigate digital transformations.
