High-Profile Launch Signals Strong Support
The partnership was unveiled at a special event in Cairo, held under the patronage of several government bodies, including the Ministries of Planning, Investment, and Finance. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was also represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), highlighting significant government backing for the initiative.
The launch gathered senior government officials, private sector leaders, and founders from prominent Egyptian startups like Thndr, Nawy, Money Fellows, and Amtar to discuss the role of digital platforms in driving business growth.

The collaboration aims to arm entrepreneurs and SMEs with the digital tools and knowledge necessary to expand their businesses and find new customers.
Abdelhamid Sharara, Founder and CEO of RiseUp, stated that the partnership is a key step in expanding opportunities for SMEs. “The partnership with TikTok represents an important step toward expanding growth opportunities for SMEs by enabling entrepreneurs to leverage innovative digital tools and solutions and enhance their access to customers,” he said.
Wael Ezzat, Head of Public Policy for North Africa at TikTok, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the critical role of small businesses. “SMEs are a cornerstone of the Egyptian economy,” Ezzat noted. “The collaboration with RiseUp aims to empower entrepreneurs to benefit from the opportunities of the digital economy and to leverage the platform’s tools to support business growth.”
Under the partnership, the two organizations will launch educational initiatives, workshops, and interactive programs to help SMEs develop their digital strategies and boost their competitiveness.
