Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning has released the beta version of INSAIGHTS, an agentic AI tool designed to make the Kingdom’s national data more accessible. Integrated into the Data Saudi platform, the tool allows users to ask plain-language questions and receive instant analysis drawn from a massive repository of economic and social indicators.
Quick Facts
- AI tool analyzes over 7,500 indicators.
- Turns natural language questions into data insights.
- Designed for researchers, analysts, and the public.
From Data Portal to Conversational AI
INSAIGHTS transforms the Data Saudi platform from a static data repository into an interactive, queryable resource. The tool is built to understand user questions and pull relevant information from its database of more than 7,500 national economic and social indicators, presenting it as direct analysis.
This move aims to significantly lower the barrier to entry for complex data analysis. It targets a wide audience, including government decision-makers, academic researchers, business analysts, and the general public, providing them with a way to explore the Kingdom’s socioeconomic data without needing specialized skills.
A Public-Facing Push for Agentic AI
The launch of INSAIGHTS is a clear example of Gulf governments moving sophisticated AI applications out of internal pilot programs and into public-facing services. By creating a tool that directly serves citizens and businesses, the Ministry is not just improving data transparency but also demonstrating a practical application of agentic AI for national benefit.
The initiative aligns directly with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program, which emphasize data-driven innovation and economic transparency. The Ministry framed the launch as part of the Kingdom’s ambition to establish leadership in AI and data utilization.
Beta Launch with Room to Grow
Officials have been clear that the current version of INSAIGHTS is a beta release, with plans to expand its capabilities and data sources in the coming months. The Data Saudi platform itself was only launched in 2023 to consolidate information from various local and global sources.
While the current dataset is extensive, there are still gaps to be filled. For instance, data from the Saudi Ministry of Commerce regarding business license registrations for “artificial intelligence” activities is not yet integrated into the INSAIGHTS platform, highlighting the ongoing work required to create a truly comprehensive national data tool.
