Cairo University has launched the third edition of its Innovation Forum, bringing together researchers, students, faculty members and industry representatives to explore how research can support industry and sustainable development.
Held at the Al-Qasimi Hall in the university’s new Central Library, the forum focused on “Innovation and Scientific Research for Future Industry and Sustainable Development.” The event was overseen by Mahmoud El-Saeed, the university’s vice president for graduate studies and research.
The opening included an exhibition featuring research outputs, innovations and scientific applications with commercial potential. The projects highlighted research capabilities across multiple disciplines and efforts to move ideas toward market-ready products and services.
A main session examined how universities can support innovation and entrepreneurship, including the commercialisation of research assets, talent development and stronger links between research, technology planning and industry.
The forum also assessed marketable research outputs and announced awards for the best research outputs and scientific posters. Its recommendations called for wider industry partnerships and greater support for turning research and ideas into projects with economic and social value, according to the announcement.
