Dubai Municipality’s Dubai Central Laboratory has introduced automated technology that cuts oil and fat quality testing from two hours to two minutes, according to the announcement.
The system analyses samples without human intervention and can identify early indicators of oxidation and other quality issues during manufacturing and storage. It also automatically generates results, helping the laboratory process samples faster.
The technology is expected to increase daily testing capacity by 900%, from six samples to 60. Dubai Municipality said the higher throughput will support food safety monitoring and more responsive regulatory processes across the emirate.
The system also eliminates the chemical consumables used in conventional testing, supporting the laboratory’s green practices while maintaining accuracy, reliability and compliance with international standards.
Hind Mahmoud Ahmed, director of the Dubai Central Laboratory Department, said the upgrade would strengthen testing efficiency and help authorities identify potential quality issues more quickly, supporting consumer protection and confidence in food products available in Dubai.
