Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) has launched the Sharjah Cyber Security Strategy 2026–2031 after approval by the Sharjah Executive Council, setting out the emirate’s first comprehensive dedicated cyber security plan.
The strategy aims to support secure digital transformation by protecting digital infrastructure and critical assets, strengthening resilience and building trust in digital services and technologies. It complements Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028 and aligns with the UAE’s national direction, according to the announcement.
Guided by the vision of “A Cyber-Secure Emirate,” the plan is built around five pillars: smart and secure cyberspace governance, cyber resilience, critical infrastructure protection, partnerships and communication, and cyber security capabilities.
The framework embeds cyber security into digital initiatives from design through implementation. It also focuses on risk preparedness, regulatory compliance, monitoring, incident response and recovery, as well as developing national talent and expanding collaboration.
Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, SDD’s Director-General, said the strategy is intended to help Sharjah anticipate future cyber risks while making security a shared responsibility across the emirate’s digital ecosystem.
