Egypt’s accounting and finance professionals show a strong appetite for entrepreneurship, with 78% saying they want to establish and manage their own businesses in the future, according to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
The figure, included in ACCA’s 2026 Global Talent Trends report, is well above the 54% global average. The report surveyed 11,389 finance and accounting professionals across 160 countries.
ACCA said the results reflect a broader shift in how Egyptian finance professionals view accounting, seeing it not only as a career path but also as a foundation for building and running companies. Skills such as cash-flow management, pricing, risk assessment and regulatory compliance are central to that transition.
The survey also found that 69% of respondents in Egypt are interested in roles addressing social issues, while 65% want to contribute to environmental challenges. Meanwhile, 77% believe working from company offices can positively affect career progression, compared with an 85% global average.
Globally, 82% of respondents expressed confidence in their ability to acquire and apply artificial intelligence skills. However, around half remain cautious about using algorithms in recruitment, citing concerns over bias, transparency, data protection and the loss of human judgment.
