The first National Economic Forum for Emirati Women has launched in Umm Al Quwain, bringing together business leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and experts to support the growth and competitiveness of women-led companies in the UAE.
Organised by the UAE Businesswomen Council and hosted by the Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen Council at the emirate’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the 2026 forum focused on moving women-led ventures beyond the startup stage and into growth, expansion and sustainable operations.
Discussions covered access to markets, financing, technology, innovation and emerging sectors including clean energy, climate technology, the circular economy, smart agriculture and food security. Speakers also highlighted the importance of helping women-led businesses build brands, enter supply chains and compete locally and internationally.
According to the announcement, Emirati women hold up to 290,000 trade licences, representing more than 21% of active licences in the country. The number of Emirati businesswomen stands at around 23,000, managing projects worth more than AED60 billion, according to Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, vice chairman of the UAE Chambers Federation.
The forum’s recommendations called for stronger coordination between chambers, businesswomen councils, government entities and the private sector. Participants also backed making the forum an annual platform that rotates between the UAE’s emirates and measures the economic impact of its recommendations.
