The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and Morocco have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation on digital governance and public administration reform across the Arab region.
Signed in Rabat by ESCWA Executive Secretary Rania Al-Mashat and Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghani, the agreement creates a framework for sharing expertise, modernising public institutions and using emerging technologies to improve government services.
The partnership will focus on administrative innovation, institutional reform and improving the efficiency, accessibility and quality of public services across ESCWA member states. It will also support the exchange of Moroccan experience in digital transition and administrative reform.
The cooperation could include institutional models, service digitisation approaches and methods for improving interactions between citizens and government entities. However, the agreement does not disclose specific programmes, implementation timelines or funding arrangements.
ESCWA said the initiative links digital reform with wider sustainable development goals, including better access to public services and stronger institutional capacity. The MoU does not specify which technologies or platforms will be involved.
