Egypt is targeting the creation of sustainable startups that develop local products and intellectual property, and can expand from the country into regional and international markets, Communications and Information Technology Minister Raafat Hindi said.
Speaking in a recorded address at the launch of Entalak’s 2026 annual entrepreneurship report, Hindi said technology has become essential across industries including manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, education, financial services, tourism and transport.
He said the ministry’s support for technology entrepreneurship is intended not only to increase the number of startups, but also to help them address real market needs, improve services and build scalable business models.
The ministry is supporting efforts to simplify the investor journey, from company formation and licensing to operations and expansion. According to Hindi, this work involves redesigning and integrating government procedures, rather than simply digitising existing processes.
Other priorities include skills development, innovation support through Egypt Digital Innovation Hubs, and connecting startups with investors and markets. The ministry is also working to help startups use artificial intelligence, data and computing resources to turn ideas into scalable products.
Hindi said entrepreneurship reports since 2023 have highlighted challenges including complex procedures, limited access to finance and markets, and regulations that need to better accommodate new business models. He called for the latest summit to translate those findings into clear priorities, partnerships and implementation plans.
