Egyptian officials met with fintech entrepreneurs and companies to discuss investment and expansion opportunities in the country’s technology, innovation and digital financial services sectors.
Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), joined Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom for the meeting, which also reviewed developments in Egypt’s investment climate.
Rostom said the government is pursuing a strategy to support entrepreneurship and address the operational and financing challenges faced by startups.
Awad described fintech as a promising sector for Egypt as the country works to strengthen its digital economy. He added that GAFI is focused on supporting investors and entrepreneurs, addressing their challenges and promoting Egypt’s investment incentives.
The participating entrepreneurs presented expansion and investment plans for the Egyptian market and expressed interest in the opportunities and incentives available to fintech companies.
