Abu Dhabi-based Synapse Analytics has raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Partech, with participation from Algebra Ventures and Silicon Badia. The funding brings the company’s total capital raised since its 2018 founding to $17 million.

Founded by Ahmed Abaza and Galal Elbeshbishy, Synapse provides AI-powered decisioning infrastructure for regulated financial institutions. Its platform enables banks, fintechs, non-banking financial institutions and telecommunications companies to deploy decisioning tools within their own infrastructure, including on-premises, private or public cloud, sovereign cloud and air-gapped environments.

The technology supports decisions across onboarding, credit, fraud and anti-money laundering. Teams can build, simulate, version and deploy policies, as well as test changes against historical data before implementation.

According to the company, the new capital will fund team expansion, product development and international growth across the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Synapse said it is also developing intelligent agents to support credit and risk teams with policy refinement, portfolio monitoring and the identification of emerging risks and opportunities.
