Morocco is moving to expand its AI infrastructure, with NVIDIA highlighting two projects that could increase the country’s access to computing capacity, including a planned $1.2B AI factory near Casablanca.
The largest project is being developed by Nexus Core Systems through a collaboration with Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition, Ministry of Investment and the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency. Announced at GITEX Africa in April 2026, it involves an initial investment of $1.2B and planned capacity of 500 MW, according to NVIDIA.
The facility is expected to use NVIDIA Blackwell accelerated computing and renewable energy supplied by TAQA Morocco. It is intended to help businesses, researchers and developers train, customize and deploy AI models using local computing resources.
NVIDIA also identified a planned Moroccan deployment by Cassava Technologies as part of its wider African expansion. The company’s investments across several countries, including Morocco, Egypt, Kenya and Nigeria, could reach $720M, although the announcement does not specify the amount or capacity allocated to Morocco.
The projects align with Morocco’s “Morocco for Artificial Intelligence 2030” roadmap, which targets 100 billion dirhams in additional GDP value, 50,000 jobs and the training or certification of 200,000 professionals by 2030. The strategy also covers data infrastructure, sovereign cloud services, language models, regulation and skills development.
