Qatar is expanding its Startup Qatar Investment Program, offering up to $1.1M for early-stage technology startups and as much as $5.5M for established companies seeking to expand in the country.
Led by Qatar Development Bank, the program combines investment with operational support, including waived registration and licence renewal fees, assistance with work and entrepreneur visas, subsidised coworking spaces, talent support and training.
The START track is aimed at startups with proof of concept or an early product that are preparing for commercial launch. Funding is released in stages against agreed milestones.
The GROW track targets companies with at least three years of operations, an established management team, clear growth prospects, financial stability and a previous funding record. It supports companies looking to move part of their operations or expand their presence in Qatar.
The program also offers access to innovation and R&D grants, market opportunities, exhibitions, mentoring and support related to relocation and housing. Priority areas include artificial intelligence, fintech, SaaS, cybersecurity, climate technology, healthtech, robotics and supply-chain technology, among others.
According to official data, Startup Qatar has received more than 5,800 applications and provided over $39M to 37 startups from countries including Italy, Oman, Singapore, the UK, the US and Türkiye. Qatar aims to grow the program’s portfolio to QAR1B by 2030.
