Beyon Connect, part of the Beyon Group, has integrated Taptap Send into Bahrain’s revamped eKey 2.0 ecosystem, enabling digital authentication of national identity and electronic know-your-customer (eKYC) checks.
The integration is now part of Taptap Send’s registration and identity verification process in Bahrain. Customers can use eKey 2.0 to verify their identity and access the money transfer platform’s services, reducing the need to manually enter identity document details.
The agreement was signed at the FinTech Forward forum in Bahrain by Richard Budel, CEO of Beyon Connect, and Abdellatif Waked, Taptap Send’s CEO for the Middle East.
Taptap Send, which recently launched in Bahrain, enables international money transfers through its mobile app and serves customers across more than 70 destinations. Its Bahrain entity is licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain as a payment service provider.
According to the announcement, the collaboration adds to the adoption of eKey 2.0 by private-sector organisations in Bahrain. The system was developed by Beyon Connect in partnership with the Information & eGovernment Authority.
