Mubadala, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, is increasing its focus on Asia, with investments in the region now representing 13% of its portfolio, up from 10% three years ago.
Chief Financial Officer Carlos Obeid said the fund has been building its exposure to China, South Korea and India while developing a broader pipeline of opportunities with teams on the ground.
“We believe there are a lot of opportunities across all the strategies and themes. So, we need more in Asia,” Obeid said at a Milken Institute conference in Singapore, according to the announcement.
Mubadala manages $385 billion in assets, according to its website. It deployed more than $26 billion directly or through subsidiaries during the first nine months of 2026, making it the world’s most active sovereign wealth fund over that period, according to Global SWF data.
The fund invests around 10% of its portfolio globally each year, equivalent to $39 billion in 2025, and plans to maintain that pace. Its investment priorities include the energy transition, advanced technology, global supply chains and changing consumer needs.
Recent Asian investments include a $1 billion deal with China’s Luckin Coffee and a natural gas concession in Indonesia’s Andaman Sea through Mubadala Energy.
