Saudi FinTech Barq Plans Acquisition of Bahrain’s Beyon Money

1 Min Read

Saudi financial technology group Barq, operated by Etihad Technology Holding, plans to acquire Bahrain-based digital financial services platform Beyon Money from Beyon Group, expanding its presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The proposed transaction was announced at the Future FinTech Forum in Manama. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Beyon Group will retain an economic interest in Barq, creating an ongoing financial relationship between the two companies.

Founded in 2023, Barq said it has more than 15 million users. The company also raised $329.5 million in a Series A round in September 2026. Beyon Money, launched in 2022, offers digital money transfers and open banking services in Bahrain.

The deal remains subject to final regulatory approvals. Existing Beyon Money services are expected to continue, with any transition to broader financial offerings taking place gradually. The companies have not disclosed a completion date or detailed integration plans.

The acquisition would give Barq an established platform in Bahrain as it expands beyond Saudi Arabia. It would also allow Beyon Group to maintain financial exposure to Barq’s future regional growth.
