Saudi’s EdfaPay And Sudan’s GoPravo Launch SDPay To Revolutionize Digital Financial Services

3 Min Read

Saudi payment technology company EdfaPay and Sudanese IT firm GoPravo have officially partnered to launch a new 50/50 joint venture named SDPay. This new entity will operate and provide modern financial services and payments infrastructure across Sudan.

Bridging The Gap In Sudanese Payments

SDPay is designed to serve banks, telecom operators, merchants, government entities, and individuals across Sudan. The venture strategically combines the advanced Saudi fintech infrastructure developed by EdfaPay with GoPravo’s deep local expertise in the Sudanese market. SDPay aims to enable merchants to seamlessly accept payments and improve customer acquisition through flexible options like QR codes, point-of-sale (POS) devices, and robust online payment gateways.

Beyond basic payment processing, the platform will deliver digital wallets, banking services, account aggregation solutions, and specialized financial management tools for consumers. Furthermore, the joint venture plans to facilitate the issuance of payment cards and offer Processing-as-a-Service (PaaS). SDPay will also provide integration with payroll disbursement platforms, facilitate international cross-border remittances, and support government sectors with embedded finance solutions and bill collection services.

Enhancing The Core Banking Ecosystem

Ghormallah AlGhamdi, Chairman of SDPay and CEO of EdfaPay, emphasized that Sudan possesses the human talent and widespread mobile penetration necessary to build a modern payments ecosystem. He noted that the goal is to make a tangible impact on the business sector and everyday lives, from accelerating merchant receipt processes to reducing the cost of remittances for families.

Mohamed Elhag, CEO of SDPay, explained that while Sudan has sustained demand for digital financial services, the primary challenge remains integration. Because banks, e-wallets, telecom operators, and government collection systems frequently operate in silos, SDPay will provide the shared infrastructure needed to connect them. The platform will empower clients with API integration, electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification, fraud monitoring, 3D Secure authentication, and comprehensive financial reconciliation services.
