The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award will hold its ninth edition on November 24, 2026, as part of a special edition of the Knowledge Summit in Dubai.
The award, administered by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, is building on its eighth edition, which recognized five figures whose work spans heritage preservation, theoretical physics, digital education and mental healthcare.
Juma Al Majid was honored for establishing a center dedicated to collecting, restoring and digitizing manuscripts, books and historical materials. Dr. Ahmed Eid Almheiri was recognized for his research into black holes, gravity and quantum information.
Dr. Andrew Ng received the award for his contributions to digital education and broader access to artificial intelligence and machine learning. Dr. David Clark and Dr. Anke Ehlers were recognized for developing evidence-based psychological treatments and translating mental health research into practical therapeutic approaches.
According to the announcement, the recognition of Clark and Ehlers marked the first time the award had been presented for mental health research.
Established in 2014, the award celebrates achievements in knowledge and innovation, with a focus on applying research and ideas to societal progress and human well-being.
