The platform uses AI to analyse customer reviews and generate concise Pros, Cons and Tips, helping residents and visitors compare local businesses without having to read through hundreds of individual reviews.
Dubai-based startup DXB Local has launched the public beta of an AI-powered local discovery platform designed to make customer reviews easier to understand and act on.
The platform analyses customer experiences published across the web and distils recurring feedback into short summaries called “Review Bites”. These highlight what a business does well, potential drawbacks and practical tips customers may find useful before visiting or booking.
Rather than relying on overall ratings or generic positive and negative comments, DXB Local aims to surface specific details that can influence a customer’s decision. These might include recommended dishes at a restaurant, additional charges at a salon, appointment reliability at a home services provider or advice on where to sit.
For example, its profile of Bosporus Turkish Cuisine at The Beach in JBR highlights the views from its second-floor terrace overlooking the sea and Ain Dubai, alongside practical considerations such as outdoor seating and smoking areas.
The platform currently covers restaurants, cafés, salons, home services and other local businesses across Dubai. DXB Local reports that it has generated more than 359,000 Review Bites across 1,495 categories.
The technology identifies recurring patterns in customer feedback and checks cited excerpts against the original reviews to ensure that published insights are supported by customer experiences. It also distinguishes feedback about specific products and services rather than treating general praise or criticism as evidence about individual offerings.
DXB Local was founded by Bob Chandra, who brings experience building products at Amazon and Twitter/X. The company is inviting residents and visitors to test the public beta and provide feedback ahead of a wider launch.
Alongside the platform, DXB Local has developed Dubai’s Absolute Favorite Dishes, an interactive guide based on an analysis of more than 1.2 million written reviews from the top 1,000 restaurants in Dubai. Of those, 477,898 reviews containing food mentions formed the basis of its deeper analysis of individual dishes.
