Abu Dhabi-based startup CentaureAI, a deep-tech venture developed within the Advanced Technology Research Council’s (ATRC) Technology Innovation Institute (TII), has officially launched its AI platform. Announced at the Make it in the Emirates 2026 event, the company aims to transform existing cameras and IoT sensors from passive recording devices into active, real-time intelligence networks.
Quick Facts
- Turns existing surveillance into live intelligence.
- Integrates with current cameras and sensors.
- A spin-out from Abu Dhabi’s TII.
From Passive Footage to Active Intelligence
Most surveillance infrastructure today generates massive volumes of data that is typically reviewed only after an incident has occurred. CentaureAI is built to close this gap by applying artificial intelligence to live video and sensor feeds. The platform can detect objects, classify activities, recognize behavior patterns, and assess crowd movements, turning passive assets into an operational layer that interprets and prioritizes events as they happen. For operators of smart cities, transport hubs, and critical infrastructure, this shift from reactive to proactive monitoring can be a critical advantage in saving time, resources, and protecting assets.
Upgrading Infrastructure Without the Rip-and-Replace
A significant barrier to adopting new surveillance technology is often the cost and complexity of replacing existing hardware. CentaureAI’s platform is designed to integrate directly with an organization’s current infrastructure, including CCTV networks, IP cameras, access-control systems, and various IoT devices. This approach allows public and private sector clients to enhance their operational capabilities without undertaking a costly overhaul of their physical systems.
Beyond the Alert: Automated Workflows
Instead of simply flooding control rooms with more alerts, CentaureAI helps teams focus on what matters most. The platform uses AI to identify unusual events and prioritize them for human attention. A core feature is its automated incident workflows, which handle escalations, logging, and notifications. This system is designed not just to flag an event but also to help assess risk and support the next steps, reducing the burden on control room staff and minimizing the chance of missed signals. The company’s hardware roadmap also includes a proprietary Terahertz sensor, TeraSentrix, designed to detect concealed threats.
ATRC’s Commercialization Engine Gains Speed
CentaureAI is the second startup to launch from the TII ecosystem at the event, following the debut of multi-domain decision-support platform TACTICA AI. Both ventures are part of a growing portfolio of commercial companies spun out of Abu Dhabi’s ATRC. Since its establishment in 2020, ATRC’s commercialization arm, VentureOne, has been focused on bringing frontier research from the lab to the market. This portfolio now includes ventures like AI71 for enterprise AI, QuantumGate for quantum-secure encryption, and SteerAI for autonomous vehicle solutions, signaling a clear strategy to deploy sovereign technology across multiple industries.
