Abu Dhabi-listed EdTech firm Alef Education has completed a massive artificial intelligence literacy program in partnership with Microsoft, training approximately 25,000 educators across 710 schools in the UAE. The ambitious initiative was rolled out in just seven weeks, running from May 11 to June 30, 2026, through the company’s proprietary Alef Academy platform.

A National Push for AI in Classrooms
The program marks a significant step in the UAE’s national agenda to integrate AI into its education system. Unlike smaller pilot programs that often target single institutions, this initiative was executed at a national scale.
It was distributed through key government bodies, including the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and the Sharjah Private Education Authority. The effort directly aligns with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and government directives to embed AI education across the country’s schools.
Scaling EdTech: The Alef and Microsoft Model
The rapid and wide-scale deployment was made possible by combining the strengths of both partners. Alef Education leveraged its existing Alef Academy platform, which already serves a large user base, while Microsoft provided the curriculum framework through its “Elevate” program, which is designed for large-scale AI skills training.
The training covered the practical application of AI in both classroom teaching and daily school administration, equipping educators with the tools needed for modern educational environments. The scale of the rollout demonstrates a workable model for implementing nationwide upskilling programs efficiently.
