Aleppo has hosted its first consultative forum, bringing together representatives of government institutions, members of parliament and civil society organisations to discuss the governorate’s key challenges and strengthen coordination across sectors.

During the forum, Hazem Lotfi, director of the Syrian Investment Authority’s Aleppo branch, presented an overview of the governorate’s economic and investment landscape. The presentation covered the impact of economic and service-related challenges, as well as opportunities in industry, agriculture, real estate development, tourism, healthcare, education and logistics.

According to the announcement, proposed strategic projects could attract around $5B in investment and create more than 300,000 jobs. The presentation also highlighted the role of Syria’s investment law and the Investor Services Centre in simplifying procedures and providing incentives and guarantees.

The forum was held under the sponsorship of the Aleppo governorate as part of discussions on economic recovery, reconstruction and the development of a new investment environment in the Syrian governorate.
