FC Barcelona is set to open its first official Barça Academy in Tunisia in September, expanding the club’s global football training network to 29 academies.
The announcement follows training camps held in June and July, which the club said attracted strong interest from local families and the wider community. The new academy will be open to boys and girls in Tunisia.
The agreement was signed at Barcelona’s offices in the presence of Barça Academy director Beni Migreli, academy sporting director Sergi Barjuan and Mohamed Ali El Meddeb, representing the local partner.
As part of the project, Barcelona will send a technical director to Tunisia to oversee the implementation of its training and football education methodology.
With the Tunisian academy, Barcelona’s network will comprise 11 academies in Asia-Pacific, 10 across the Americas, and eight in Europe and the Middle East, according to the announcement.
The Barça Academy model focuses on player development from youth levels through to the first team, with an emphasis on creative, attacking football. It also promotes values including respect, humility, effort, ambition and teamwork.
The club said the Tunisian project aims to support local talent development and contribute to the organisation of the country’s football ecosystem.
