Cash Plus to Take Joint Control of Morocco’s Tripass and WeTaxi

Moroccan payment institution Cash Plus has announced an agreement to take joint control of Tripass, the startup behind WeTaxi, a digital platform for airport-to-city transfers.

The transaction was notified to Morocco’s Competition Council on August 28, 2026. It will be carried out through Cash Plus VC Fund I SARLAU, Cash Plus’s wholly owned investment vehicle, alongside Tripass’s historical founding partner. The arrangement leaves governance shared, with the original founder retaining a stake in the company.

The council has opened a ten-day public consultation, which is due to close on September 9, 2026, before a final decision is issued.

WeTaxi uses interactive screens in airport arrival halls to let passengers book rides at fixed, prepaid rates. According to the announcement, the platform has transported more than 2.1 million passengers and helped return 2,341 lost items. Taxi drivers using the service receive digital wallets to manage earnings and access formal banking services.

The deal expands Cash Plus’s activities beyond payments and money transfers into smart mobility. The company operates more than 3,000 agencies in Morocco and reported 863 million dirhams in consolidated net banking income in 2025, up 14% year on year. Its network processed more than 130 billion dirhams in transactions during the year.

The transaction also comes as Morocco prepares to co-host the 2030 World Cup, which is expected to increase pressure on airport and urban transport infrastructure.
