DMCC and Wild Unlimited will launch Dubai Developed in Fortnite 2033 globally on 11 November, bringing Dubai landmarks, culture and destinations to players through an interactive Fortnite experience.
Developed independently by Wild Unlimited using Unreal Editor for Fortnite, the experience will feature an open-world, team-based environment with locations including Al Fahidi Fort, Almas Tower, Uptown Dubai, Skydive Dubai, Deep Dive Dubai, Kite Beach, Dubai Harbour and the American University in Dubai.
The launch will be supported by creator activations, community gaming tournaments and the Dubai Drop campaign, which began on 1 November with social media activity and augmented reality collectibles across Dubai. A public launch event and Wild Game Fest will take place at SALT, Kite Beach, on 11 November.
The project has also included UEFN masterclasses at Uptown Dubai and the American University in Dubai. Students helped recreate the university campus for inclusion in the experience, linking game development education with a live digital project.
According to the announcement, the initiative brings together organisations from Dubai’s gaming, tourism, cultural and commercial sectors, including Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai Culture, SALT and Shamal Holding.
DMCC said its Gaming Centre is home to more than 170 gaming companies and supports the emirate’s ambitions under the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033. Additional destinations, gameplay features and opportunities for creators and commercial partners are planned for future editions.
This is an independently created Fortnite island and is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Epic Games.
