Bahraini startups DOO and Tanami Capital have been named joint winners of the Startup of the Year Award, recognising two ventures emerging from the kingdom’s startup ecosystem.
DOO is an AI-powered customer experience and conversational automation platform focused on Arabic-first and Gulf dialect-aware AI agents. Tanami Capital is a regulated wealth technology platform based in Manama that gives individual and institutional investors access to global private markets.
The award is part of a partnership between Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), which supports high-potential Bahraini startups through investment, strategic guidance and growth opportunities.
Now in its third edition, the competition was launched in 2024 for ventures emerging from the Startup Bahrain Pitch series. Companies are assessed on innovation, market viability, alignment with Bahrain’s economic strategy and scalability.
More than 30 startups have been evaluated since the partnership began, with four receiving direct investment from Mumtalakat. Earlier winners included Early Riser, Lumofy, Parcel and Procural.
The Startup Bahrain Pitch series, supported by Tamkeen and the SME Development Board, has held 28 editions since 2023. It has featured 132 startups and provided founders with investor access, mentorship, training and networking opportunities.
