Salé hosted a ceremony on October 16 recognising Moroccan women for their contributions to entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership and economic development, with a particular focus on rural women.

Organised by Synergie-RSK Mobadara in partnership with Morocco’s National Initiative for Human Development in Salé and Wallonia-Brussels Cooperation Agency through the Min Ajliki programme, the event brought together institutional officials, diplomatic representatives, international cooperation partners and women entrepreneurs.

The ceremony highlighted women-led businesses, cooperatives, social enterprises and initiatives focused on local products and handicrafts. Organisers also used the event to call for stronger support and mentoring, better access to training, finance, digital tools and markets, and deeper integration of women into the local economy.

Rachida Bouzit Marnissi, president of Synergie-RSK Mobadara, said rural women are important contributors to territorial development and that the women honoured demonstrate how ideas can become successful businesses. Wallonia-Brussels Cooperation Agency director Othmane El Hajjame said the gathering also provided an opportunity to address the barriers still limiting women’s economic empowerment.

Aicha El Bekkali, coordinator of Min Ajliki, said the programme works to strengthen women entrepreneurs’ capabilities and support their integration into the local economy. Several women were honoured for their entrepreneurial, innovative and social contributions, offering examples intended to inspire more women and girls to pursue economic independence.
