Alongside the forum, the authority has launched a competition for early-stage creative startups, offering a total of AED 160,000 in cash prizes to support emerging talent in the emirate.

  • Initiative: 4th Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Forum & Competition
  • Total Prize Money: AED 160,000 (approx. $43,500)
  • Application Deadline: July 12, 2024

Bolstering Dubai’s Creative Economy

Set to take place in the Al Quoz Creative Zone in the fourth quarter of this year, the forum serves as a platform for entrepreneurs, artists, designers, investors, and cultural leaders to explore the future of the creative economy. The initiative is a direct component of the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, which aims to position the city as a global hub for culture and innovation by matching creative projects with investment capital.

The event will feature a series of talks, workshops, and networking sessions with industry experts, focusing on project development and skill enhancement for creative professionals.

Competition for Early-Stage Ventures

Dubai Culture has opened applications for the fourth Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Competition, targeting early-stage startups and entrepreneurs across a wide range of creative sectors. These include advertising, marketing, design (graphic, industrial, digital, fashion), architecture, film and animation production, gaming, culinary arts, and publishing, among others.

A specialized committee will review applications based on several criteria: the uniqueness of the project idea, its potential for growth and market competitiveness, its financial sustainability, and its overall impact on the creative industries sector, including job creation and cultural diversity.

Pitching to Experts and Investors

Shortlisted participants will get the chance to pitch their projects to a judging panel of industry specialists, investors, and forum partners. The evaluation will determine the final winners.

The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of AED 80,000, with the second and third-place winners awarded AED 50,000 and AED 30,000, respectively. Winners will also receive additional non-financial awards from the forum’s partners.

Khulood Khoory, Director of the Design Department at Dubai Culture, commented on the initiative’s importance. “Creativity is a key driver of development and a vital source for building innovative business models that are competitive and sustainable,” she stated. “The forum provides interactive pathways and specialized programs that redefine the relationship between creativity and entrepreneurship, reflecting Dubai Culture’s commitment to enabling project owners to turn their ideas into viable economic opportunities.”
