Dubai Sports Council has partnered with the New Economy Academy to launch a program aimed at training and preparing 1,000 Emirati entrepreneurs for opportunities in the sports sector.
The initiative is part of the UAE’s “UAE, Capital of Entrepreneurship” campaign and is designed for Emirati men and women interested in establishing, managing or developing sports businesses.
According to the announcement, participants will receive academic and practical training covering sports entrepreneurship, investment and business development. The program will also connect them with investors and entrepreneurs with experience in the sector.
Dr. Laila Fereidoun, CEO of the New Economy Academy, said the program would help participants turn innovative sports ideas into sustainable businesses. The academy said its training combines specialised knowledge with practical applications.
Essa Sharif, director of sports events at Dubai Sports Council, said the partnership supports the goals of Dubai’s Sports Plan 2033 and aims to strengthen national talent in the sports economy.
The program follows a lecture by Qais Al Dhalai, president of the Asian Rugby Federation, on the principles of successful investment in sports. The announcement said the wider entrepreneurship initiative aims to train 10,000 Emirati men and women.
