Egypt’s Cabinet Media Centre has launched Chat EGYPT, an AI-powered platform designed to track, verify and respond to rumours using information from official sources.
Unveiled at Egypt Forum 2026, the platform analyses text, images and videos, placing them in their timeline and factual context to help identify misleading or manipulated content. More than 21,000 data entries have been uploaded so far.
Chat EGYPT is organised into four sections: News, Awareness, Statistics and Citizen Inquiries. Ministries, government bodies and governorates will add verified information within their areas of responsibility, allowing claims to be checked against government statements and data.
The Media Centre said the system is intended to address harmful rumours early and reduce their impact. It described Chat EGYPT as the largest unified interactive platform of its kind, a claim made by the government.
The platform’s disclaimer says its responses are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, inaccuracies or outdated information. It also states that the outputs do not replace official documents, laws or government decisions, and advises users to verify important information with relevant authorities.
