Reme-D, an Egyptian healthtech startup developing and manufacturing molecular diagnostic solutions, has closed a $1.45 million Pre-Series A funding round. The investment was led by Anara Impact Capital, with participation from the Global Innovation Fund (GIF), Africa Health Ventures, and other investors.

Bridging Africa’s Diagnostic Gap
Founded in 2023 by Salma Tammam, Reme-D focuses on making advanced diagnostics accessible and affordable in underserved markets. The company develops and manufactures accurate, temperature-resilient molecular diagnostic tests for diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), HIV, hepatitis, and HPV.
Since its launch, Reme-D has commercialized 30 diagnostic products from its Cairo facility, supplying over 550,000 tests across Egypt, Kenya, and Sudan. Its client base includes public and private labs, hospitals, and research institutions. The company has also filed a US patent application for its proprietary technology.
Fueling Manufacturing and Market Expansion
The new capital will be used to significantly scale operations. Reme-D plans to move into a new 1500 sqm facility, upgrading its equipment to boost production capacity by tenfold. This follows substantial team growth, from an initial five members to a current team of 50.
The funding will also support the expansion of its product portfolio to include new diagnostics for genetic diseases and cancer. A key focus remains on making these tests resilient to temperature fluctuations, a critical factor for distribution in areas with limited cold-chain infrastructure. This funding round builds on a $500,000 investment Reme-D received from the Global Innovation Fund last April to scale its solutions.
