Saudi Venture Capital (SVC) has invested in SEEDRA Ventures Fund II, the latest fund from Riyadh-based manager SEEDRA Ventures. The investment aims to inject more institutional capital into Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning early-stage technology startup scene.
Quick Facts
- Investor: Saudi Venture Capital (SVC)
- Fund: SEEDRA Ventures Fund II
- Target: Early-stage Saudi tech startups
Focusing on High-Growth Tech Sectors
Launched by SEEDRA Ventures, which was founded in 2019, the new fund is sector-agnostic but will concentrate on technology and tech-enabled startups. Key areas of interest include Artificial Intelligence (AI), FinTech, PropTech, SaaS, and logistics.
The fund’s primary focus is on backing high-growth companies at their earliest stages, a critical point in a startup’s journey. According to SEEDRA, the strong demand for the fund resulted in it being oversubscribed.
Expanding Capital Access for Saudi Founders
The investment is a core part of SVC’s strategy to support Saudi companies from pre-seed rounds all the way to pre-IPO. By backing specialized fund managers like SEEDRA, SVC aims to strengthen the foundational layer of the Kingdom’s venture ecosystem.
Nora Alsarhan, CEO at SVC, said: “Early-stage venture capital investment is where Saudi Arabia’s founders meet their first institutional partners, and the depth of that segment shapes what follows. Our investment in SEEDRA Ventures Fund II supports a manager focused squarely on backing Saudi technology founders at that critical stage, expanding the specialised capital available to them and reinforcing the private-sector engine of Vision 2030.”
Haitham Alforaih, Managing Partner of SEEDRA Ventures, commented on the opportunity within the Kingdom’s startup market.
“Saudi Arabia is producing some of the most ambitious founders and compelling venture opportunities in the region. SVC’s investment, alongside the strong demand that resulted in Fund II being oversubscribed, reinforces our conviction in the market and our ability to identify exceptional entrepreneurs early in their journey,” Alforaih stated. “Through Fund II, we will partner with founders as they scale their businesses by providing capital, expertise, and strategic access to our network, while maintaining a disciplined approach to delivering attractive long-term returns for our investors.”
