Egypt’s Enterprise Development Agency has invested $55 million across 16 funds supporting startups, helping attract $455 million in foreign direct investment for co-investment in Egyptian startups, according to remarks by its CEO Mustafa Ismail Hassan.

Speaking at the Egypt Forum 2026 in the New Administrative Capital, Hassan said 170 Egyptian startups and innovative companies have benefited from the funds. He also said 93 startups have been accredited and classified since the launch of the Startup Charter in February 2026.

The agency plans to establish an Innovation Support Unit to help startups address technological, administrative and marketing challenges, as well as operational obstacles at different stages of growth.

It is also working with relevant government bodies to build a database and information map for the small, medium-sized and startup sectors. The initiative is intended to identify companies’ needs, improve access to investment, support marketing and connect startups with larger companies and supply chains.

Hassan said the agency prioritizes training, mentoring and business assessment before providing financing. Its specialized training programs have reached 318 entrepreneurs and ecosystem professionals, along with 22 staff members from banking and financial institutions.
